Obiano is The Winner of Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) have declared the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate Willie Obiano the winner of the Anambra state Governorship election.
This announcement was made in the early hours of the morning from INEC headquarters in Awka, Anambra state, following the completion of the supplementary elections in 210 polling units scattered in some parts of the state.
Making the announcement, the Returning Officer, Professor James Opoke, the Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar declared that Obiano polled the majority votes, and satisfied the requirements of the law by securing at least 25 percent of the votes in two-thirds of the 21 local governments in the state.


Here is the final Anambra state Governorship election figures.
(1) Willie Obiano (APGA) - 180,178 votes (Declared Governor-elect)
(2) Tony Nwoye (PDP) 97,700 votes
(3) Chris Ngige (APC) 95, 963 votes
(4) Ifeanyi Ubah (LP) 37, 495 votes
Total number of votes cast =442, 242
Total number of valid votes = 425, 254
Total number of rejected votes = 16, 988
APGA won in 16 Local Government Areas. 1. Aguata 2. Ayamelum 3. Anambra East 4. Anambra West 5. Anaocha 6. Awka North 7. Awka South 8. Ekwusigo 9. Ihiala 10. Njikoka 11. Nnewi South 12. Ogbaru 13. Onitsha North 14. Onitsha South 15. Orumba North 16. Orumba South.
The PDP won in Oyi and Dunukofia.
APC won in Idemili North and South.
Labour Party won in Nnewi North.
23 political parties participated in the elections. The supplementary election was boycotted by APC, PDP and Labour Party.
